Maryland USA Gymnastics Class of 2020

Traditionally, the Maryland USA Gymnastics Committee recognizes graduating seniors at our State Championships. Due to 2020's State Championships being cancelled, we are unable to give our seniors this recognition. Please join us in recognizing and congratulating our Class of 2020!

Gymnastics Accomplishments: Level 4 vault state champ, level 5 3rd AA at states, level 6 bar state champ, level 7 bars & vault state champ and 2nd AA, level 8 bar & vault state champ & 3rd AA, regional qualifier in 2017, 2018, and 2019

 

Scholastic accomplishments & Non-gymnastics extracurricular activities: I am involved in FCA, Spanish Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and the National Honor Society. I play the flute at my high school and volunteer at my old elementary school. I have a 4.05 GPA and am in all honors and AP classes.

 

Plans for next year: Next year, I plan to attend Glenville State College to compete on the Acro & Tumbling team and study exercise science with an athletic and academic scholarship.

Keeley Jones

Club: St. Mary’s Gymnastics Academy

 

Level: 8

 

Parent/Guardian's Names: Ken and Mary Jones

 

Gymnastics Accomplishments: Keeley began gymnastics at age four at Gymtikes in Owings, MD. Her first competition was at Level 4 with Maryland State Gymnastics where she also trained as a Talented Opportunity Program (TOPS) athlete. She competed at States that year. At age 11 she had to give up gymnastics for family reasons, but she never gave up on her dream of being a gymnast. She continued to practice at home doing limited skills. She taught herself tumbling by watching videos online. At age 16, she returned to the sport she loves. She never stopped believing her dreams could come true. Keeley got back in the gym after 4 1/2 years and began training at Chesapeake Gymnastics. It was painful and strenuous, particularly since she had previously fractured the growth plate in her left ankle at cheerleading camp and had just been cleared to participate in sports. She competed at Level 6, and moved to Level 7. She served as team captain and was awarded Best Role Model. After States, Keeley moved to Level 8 and joined St. Mary's Gymnastics Academy and competed her last USAG season. She heads to college with plans to participate in club gymnastics.

 

Scholastic accomplishments & Non-gymnastics extracurricular activities: Keeley served as a United States Senate Page her junior year in high school. She has served as a member of the Huntingtown High School Mock Trial Team. She has been a member of the Teenage Republican Club since 2017. She was debate chair her sophomore year and currently serves as president. She is a member of Students for Life and organized a donation drive in 2016. She has made the Honor Roll ever year and is currently taking four AP classes. When she is not practicing gymnastics, she playing the violin, guitar or ukulele.

 

Plans for next year: Keeley plans to attend college and major in Political Science. She has narrowed down her choices to Louisiana State University, the University of Alabama, and High Point University in North Carolina. She has received significant scholarships at all three colleges.

Gymnastics Accomplishments: Level 4 Maryland State Champion in 2013 & strong placements in Level 6 and 7 state meets.

 

Scholastic accomplishments & Non-gymnastics extracurricular activities: Madison will be graduating from C. Milton Wright high school, where she is in multiple AP classes and belongs to 5 National Honor Society’s. She has a 4.375 GPA. Madison also competes on the track team at C. Milton Wright in pole-vaulting.

 

Plans for next year: Madison plans on attending a 4 year university to become a nurse practicioner.
